A message on the passing of Loretta Rogers:
The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research community was saddened to learn of the recent passing of our honorary patron, Loretta Rogers.
Loretta championed the Rogers family’s record-setting donation to establish our Centre in 2014, and remained attentive to its aspirational goals of bringing together clinicians and scientists from across The Hospital for Sick Children, University Health Network and University of Toronto to find new solutions for heart failure across the lifespan.
Our community was particularly inspired by Loretta’s genuine interest in the passion and work of our next generation of young researchers, whom she warmly interacted with at every opportunity. In her own quiet, reserved, yet keen manner, Loretta was someone we relied on to support our ideas and approach.
We send our deepest condolences to all members of the Rogers family for their loss. As we pause to mourn the passing of our champion, we rededicate ourselves to the mission and vision she helped establish.
