New Orleans, Nov. 11, 2016 – The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research brings a strong presence to the world-renowned American Heart Association Scientific Sessions that run here Nov. 12-16.

Six members of the Centre are invited faculty as presenters, moderators and panelists in such areas as genomics, congenital and acquired heart disease, pulmonary vein stenosis, surgical strategies, atrioventricular valve dysfunction, cancer cardio-protection, acute coronary syndrome, and inflammation.

They are: the Centre’s co-scientific lead Seema Mital (SickKids), Dr. Chris Caldarone (SickKids), Dr. Glen Van Arsdell (UHN), Dr. Michael Farkouh (UHN), Dr. Dinesh Thavendiranathan (UHN) and Dr. Vivek Rao (UHN).

As well, 24 abstracts will be presented this weekend for projects stemming from Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research initiatives.

“These AHA Sessions, which draw experts from across the globe, are very important in advancing clinical care and research for heart failure,” says Dr. Mital, who heads the Centre’s Cardiac Precision Medicine Program. “Despite the fact we are a young organization, the Ted Rogers Centre exhibits an impressive international reach, and its showing in New Orleans certainly attests to that.”
