Scott Heximer’s laboratory studies the regulation of heterotrimeric G-protein signaling in the cardiovascular system. He will provide a brief overview of the ongoing research projects in his laboratory and introduce recent evidence that a novel G-protein/effector complex may play an important role in the determination of cellular life or death decision-making pathways following metabolic stress. Dr. Heximer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Scientist in the Translational Biology and Engineering Program in the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research.

Steffen-Sebastian Bolz’ talk will focus on molecular mechanisms that regulate cerebral resistance artery function and blood flow in health and disease and how these pathways can be targeted to mitigate the impact of HF on brain function. Dr. Bolz is a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Scientist in the Translational Biology and Engineering Program in the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research.
